A superb Restaurant in the heart of Cinque Terre set high on the hill side
Set high upon the hillside of Monterosso is the "Il Ciliegio restaurant. At 200 metres above sea level, the restaurant is plunged into the green and provides you a wonderful view of the Gulf of Monterosso. It originated from Rosanna and Teresa's passion for the Ligurian traditional cuisine and it still distinguishes itself for its delicate and natural typical dishes, dominated by spicy herbs and by Ligurian extra virgin olive oil.
You will receive a warm welcome from your hosts Gianni & Rosanna whose families have promoted authentic ligurian cooking for generations. Cooking lessons to these families are not just about their passion for cooking but about sharing their very special and unique culture. If you are looking for Italian cooking lessons the Cinque Terre region will offer you a cooking experience never to be forgotton.
There is large parking which is also suitable for coaches. The restaurant features on the "Osterie d'Italia" guide for traditional Liguarian cuisine. There is capacity for 70/80 seats and also some superb garden seats. Finally the driveway entrance boasts one of the most superb cherry trees in Monterosso. Not that we have tasted any, of course..

A very special lunch of handmade pasta, fried anchovies, house wine, and tiramisu. Gorgeous views from the hilltop. Worth seeking out. Extras like fresh podded peas, local salami, vin santo, and a postcard that will be mailed free of charge. Lovely atmosphere and great food
I was in this restaurant with my wife and another couple of friends to have a dinner to celebrate an event. We chose the restaurant because of the unique location with a fantastic view of the sunset over the northern shores of Monterosso. I can only say the waitress that served us, a young womsn from Equador was very knowledgeable of her work, very kind and efficient.
By car: Take the exit from the highway at Carradano-Levanton (on the A12 Genoa-Livorno). Follow the directions for Levanto and Monterosso. After Levanto the road leads up a hill. When you reach the top, after a short tunnel, at 400 metres do NOT take the road to on the left for La Spezia, Pignone and Vernazza, but keep going straight ahead and after a few metres, when you reach the junction, after the two galleries, go ahead for about 2km and before going in the third gallery take the road on the right. By foot: Leave Monterosso centre walk up the hill along the main road. When you reach the top you walk through a tunnel, Il Ciliegio is on the left. (20 minute walk)
By courtesy bus: Alternatively such is the hospitatilty of the region, the owner of the restaurant also operates a courtesy bus to and from Monterosso centre. He will collect you from Monterosso town centre and return you to Monterosso, please call 0187 81 78 29
